These days there is a massive variety of Gaming words. Every day thousands of new gears are launched on the market. And when it comes in choosing hardware, then you may need a very relaxed mind. And these days Graphics card Plays a significant role for various purposes like Video editing, playing high-end games and while rendering projects. So here I will give you a complete list of GPU Hierarchy.

If you have a high-end GPU, then you can play any games and do works on your system faster. So in this article, we tried to solve your problem and created a complete and categorized list of In a hierarchy. We have classified all available GPUs by their performance, price, power consumption, and of course performance.

Please don’t confuse in CUDA cores and Stream Processors. Both are developed and used by the different company, and both technologies use different methods.

But like other hardware, We have to update our GPU time to time, and if you are laptop user, then you can use the external graphics card for laptops to increase the gaming performance of your gaming laptop. And when you decide to upgrade your graphics card, Then the question is which graphics card is the latest or which is a budget card. I’ll try to cover everything you need to know in our GPU Hierarchy. We have categorized all the GPUs in 5 Tiers.

Some Tips about GPU Hierarchy:

Here, I have mentioned some basic tips which you must know.

Check Your Current Specs – If you want to upgrade your specs, then you must know what the current specs are and how old the technology is. So, first try to check the specs.

The money you can spend – I will never suggest you spend a lot of money in GPU unless you are a full-time gamer or you have a lot of fortune to waste.

Know your dream spec – Have an idea of what you want to get out of a GPU. Think about what you want to play and know the system requirements you need.

Know, I can think that you know your budget, your current specs, and what you want. So, now you can examine the list and check where your specs lie in these tiers.

Tier 1 – The Beasts or Enthusiast Grade

GPU Hierarchy- Tier 1As we can guess from the title above. The Graphics card from this unit is commonly known as “Enthusiasts Grade.” These cards are known as the best regarding performance in the world. This tier is led by Nvidia Graphics card till now, and there is no other company which can try to get in the First Tier until now.

GPUs

Nvidia GeForce Titan V
Nvidia GeForce Titan Xp
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

But when you want the best, you have to get deep holes in your pocket as they are pricey. There is no doubt in the performance, and these cards can provide you with 60 FPS and 4K gaming experience without any issue.

Tier 2 – The Best or High-End

If you don’t have a huge budget, and still if you want to compete in the first tier. Then go for Tier 2 Which is also known as High-end graphics Card. This Tier is also dominated by Nvidia, but AMD can make its position in Tier 2 with its Radeon RX Vega 56/64.

Nvidia GPUs

AMD GPUs

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080AMD Radeon RX Vega 64
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 TiAMD Radeon RX Vega 56
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070

The Graphics card from this Tier can also provide you 1440p 144Hz and 4K 60Hz, But you cannot expect that much smooth performance with maximum settings and AAA texture quality.

  • 1440p 144Hz
  • 4K 60Hz
  • High graphics settings

With These Card, you may not need an i9 processor, But you may consider These processors for the best performance :

  • Intel Core i7-8700K
  • Core i7-7700K
  • Core i7-6700K
  • AMD Ryzen 7 1700X
  • Ryzen 7 1700

Tier 3 – Mid-Range

The Third Tier  GPU Hierarchy or the mid-range tier is the best for normal gamers.  Who love to play games at normal video quality. The Card from this tier is the most popular and most used in the market.

And the reason behind is that at this level you will get good performance, good quality, cool looking GPU and at a very reasonable price.

Nvidia GPUs

AMD GPUs

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060AMD Radeon RX 580
AMD Radeon RX 570

In this tier, you can expect 30-60 FPS in 2K resolution, and they perform well at 1080p. My opinion is that AMD rules this tier with their budget and good performing GPUs. Nvidia is also in the game but with more budget

What You Can Expect:

  • 1080p 60hz
  • Max graphics settings

These mid-range cards, we will suggest you pair with Ryzen 5 range (1600/1500/1400) or i5-7600K or previous generation.

  • Ryzen 5 1600
  • i5-7th Gen
  • i5-6th Gen
  • Ryzen 5 1500
  • Ryzen 5 1400

Tier 4 – Normal Budget

These Tier cards are the best for new-gamers. The gamers who wanted to enter the gaming world but don’t know GPU or someone who wants to add a Graphics Card Only.

Nvidia GPUs

AMD GPUs

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 TiAMD Radeon RX 560
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050

then you may have to use medium settings.

This tier of graphics card you should expect to game at 1080p with smooth frame rates comfortably. But if you want to play the Very High-end P.C game don’t expect to be running at maximum settings on most titles without opting for a higher-tier graphics card – it’s just not realistic in today’s video card market.

  • 1080p Gaming
  • Medium Settings

If you are planning for a budget graphics card, then you don’t have to go for a high-end processor. We would recommend pairing a Tier 4 graphics card with an AMD Ryzen 3 or Intel’s Core i3 CPU – even Pentium – depending on your personal preference. You shouldn’t be hitting a bottleneck with these CPUs.

  • Intel Core i3
  • AMD Ryzen 3
  • Intel Pentium

Tier 5 – Entry Level

This Tier contains cheapest GPUs that are used just for satisfaction or to play MOBAs and other less-demanding games which can’t run well on an integrated graphics card. I will Suggest you buy these cards only if you want to add a graphics card for inner-satisfaction. Or if you’re going to play old games like Crysis series and the old COD series.

Nvidia GPUs

AMD GPUs

Nvidia GeForce GT 1030AMD Radeon RX 550

But still, with these GPUs, You can play regular games at 40FPS. But there is no Guarantee that all games will work.

 Hierarchy Lists For Laptop GPU

So, here is the updated GPU hierarchy list for the laptop. We tried to solve your Problem and we ranked some of the most popular and available graphics cards for the laptop in the market. So, Do check it and comment below if you think that I forgot something.

Laptop GPU Hierarchy

From starting, People use to build a custom P.C for gaming. And the reason was worst GPU in our laptop due to compatibility problem. But now, With the cutting edge technology, You do not need to build a custom P.C. The high-end Graphics card is also available in laptops too. Unsurprisingly most of the best performers come from Nvidia and include the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 SLI, 1070 SLI, and the Quadro P42000.

The Conclusion

AMD and Nvidia dominate the GPU market. There really isn’t much more choice beyond these too brands. At the top tier level Nvidia are continually dominating over AMD. Their GPUs offer better performance, technology and high-level quality. If you aren’t on a budget, then these are the GPUs to go for. They are powerful and astonishing bits of kit. But if you’re looking for a bargain, then AMD is the one for you. They have a few great products out there, including the RX 480, which offers good value and performance. Overall there are different levels to the GPU Hierarchy, but there will definitely be a tier and product that’s right for you.
